DeLana Harvick breaks silence as Kevin Harvick spill the beans on her disastrous Late Model racing debut
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Since retiring from full-time racing in 2023, Kevin Harvick has become a full-time broadcaster. Alongside his gig as a race analyst for Fox during the race, he also has his own podcast, The Happy Hours. He has been hosting a different set of guests on his show since the start of the season and recently it was his ex-crew chief Todd Berrier.

During the show Kevin Harvick recalled the hilarious story of the duo helping his wife DeLana Harvick on her Late Model race debut. DeLana was promised a shot at racing in an Late Model race by her father after graduation, and after she did everything, she has to do to get the seat, Berrier and Harvick had to get a car set up for her. Her race though didn’t go well as she spun out multiple time owing to issues with car and well as her mistakes.

So we take Delana to the racetrack, and she goes out there, it’s a 100-lap race at Kenly, and she spins out three times. The last time she spins out, she can’t reach the switches in the car. So we had to go on the race track, start the car back up, and then she would fire off. Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour Podcast.

DeLana Harvick, who saw the snippet of the podcast on X was quick to respond to it. She pointed out that the car she got for the 100-lap race at Kenly didn’t have a power steering.

Ummmmmm you failed to mention I had no power steering. DeLana Harvick wrote on X.

Kevin Harvick recalls the time he and family had to live with DeLana Harvick’s credit car

In the same podcast, while talking about the earlier years of his career Kevin Harvick revealed that when he started his career with RCR, he had to live with DeLana Harvick’s credit card. This was because of the fact that he had to mortgage his house and buy out his contact with Liberty Racing. It prolonged till the season opener at Dayton where he got his first pay check.

I wanted to go and drive with Earnhardt. That was the deciding factor why I went to RCR, because I wanted to race on the same team as Dale Earnhardt. Because I was a fan, my dad was a fan… I had to take a second loan out on my house, to buy myself out of my Liberty Racing contract, to go to work for Richard… We lived off of DeLana’s credit cards from the end of the season until we started after Daytona when I started to get my paycheck. Kevin Harvick said.

The hilarious interactions and the wholesome stories show, the chemistry between the couple and how much they love each other. They have started the journey together and will be hoping to go as long as possible together.
